I am relatively new to the community I now live in. We moved her near the end of April.
So obviously one of my goals this year is to get my name in the community. I have dropped off a few catalogues to a couple of local businesses, but other than that I have sat on my heels.
This Weekend is our Town and County Daze. It is a 3 day party. There is a midway, Muchmusic dance party for the teens, parade, free food everywhere, a tradeshow, etc. As a side, anyone who is in the area should come out this weekend. Tons of fun for the kids. Anyway, I chose not to participate in the tradeshow, but for some reason I am thinking I made a judgement error. My thoughts when I made this decisions was, that it was too last minute for me to prepare and I didn't want to put out the financial aspect at this time. I am not a big fan of tradeshows to begin with. They are a lot of work and unless you are going to follow up with your leads, not really worth it. But I think it would have a been a stellar way for me to meet people in the community. Especially other DS women (who are supportive of one another).
So now I am kinda kicking myself for not registering for this thing. Ah well...maybe next year.

I do. I try to do them as often as I can actually - to get my name and my biz out there ;) But yes, they can be expensive and absolutely the fortune is in the follow up
